China‘s domestic and international patent and trademark applications both achieved growth
The new crown pneumonia epidemic situation has caused the big impact to our country's economy and society, but, the epidemic situation has not delayed the Chinese enterprise independent innovation. In the first half of this year, China's domestic patent and trademark applications have achieved double growth over the same period last year. The domestic applications of market entities have continued to recover and improve, the distribution of applications to the outside world has advanced steadily and rapidly, the main intellectual property indicators have met expectations, and the development of intellectual property undertakings has remained stable.
Double growth in domestic patent and trademark applications
Hu Wenhui, a spokesman for the State Intellectual Property Office, said that in the first half of this year, there were 2.195 million patent applications and 4.17 million trademark applications in China for three types of patents. The amount of patent and trademark applications in China has achieved double growth year on year. Affected by the epidemic, domestic applications in February appeared a relatively large decline, but after the rapid recovery and continued to climb, the current year-on-month growth rate has exceeded the pre-epidemic level.
Specifically, in the first half of 2020, China's invention patent applications 683000, a total of 217000 authorized invention patents; China's trademark applications 4.284 million, trademark registration 2.629 million. By the end of June 2020, the number of invention patents in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) is 1.996 million, the number of invention patents per 10,000 population is 14.3, and the number of valid registered trademarks in China is 27.414 million.
According to the layout of international applications, in the first half of the year, Chinese applicants submitted 26800 international patent applications to PCT State Intellectual Property Office, an increase of 20.7 percent over the same period last year, and 3875 applications for international registration of trademarks in Madrid, an increase of 36 percent over the same period last year.
"This shows that in the face of the situation changes brought by the impact of the epidemic situation, Chinese enterprises still have confidence in the prospects of foreign markets, adhere to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights to actively open up the international market, steadily and orderly to promote' go out'. Ge Shu, director of the strategic planning department of the State Intellectual Property Office, believes that the current situation of China's intellectual property application based on the domestic market and expanding the international market is good, which is conducive to supporting innovation to drive high-quality economic development and promoting the development level of export-oriented economy.
The Main Body of Enterprise Innovation
"The main position of domestic enterprises in patent applications is constantly consolidated ." In the first half of this year ,229000 domestic patent-applying enterprises increased by 32000 compared with the same period last year, while domestic enterprises submitted 404000 applications for invention patents, an increase of 12%.
The first half of the year, the top 3 enterprises in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) in the number of patent authorizations for invention were :Huawei Technology Co., Ltd .(2772 pieces), OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communications Co., Ltd .(1925 pieces), Beijing and Eastern Technology Group Co., Ltd .(1432 pieces).
At the same time, the use of intellectual property benefits continue to improve. In the first half of the year, the amount of patent trademark pledge nationwide was 85.3 billion yuan, an increase of 45 percent over the same period last year, and the number of pledged items was 4678, an increase of 52 percent over the same period last year. Among them, the amount of patent pledge was 65.1 billion yuan, an increase of 61 percent over the same period last year, and the number of pledged items was 4171, an increase of 54 percent over the same period last year; the total amount of trademark pledge was 20.2 billion yuan, an increase of 8.8 percent over the same period last year, and the number of pledged items was 507, an increase of 34 percent over the same period last year. Intellectual property is changing from invisible intangible assets to tangible capital for enterprise development.
With the rapid development of integrated circuit industry in China, the awareness and ability of intellectual property protection of related enterprises are generally enhanced, and more and more innovative subjects use integrated circuit layout design protection system to protect their own innovative achievements. In the first half of 2020, China's IC layout design registration application 5176, an increase of 78.2%. The number of enterprises applying for registration reached 2195,2.1 times the same period last year. Ge said that with the continuous improvement of the level of innovation in the integrated circuit industry in China, it is expected that the application for integrated circuit layout design will continue to maintain rapid growth.
The healthy development of intellectual property service industry is an important prerequisite for better protection of intellectual property rights. In May of this year, the State Intellectual Property Office issued the Circular on Deepening the Blue Sky Action to Promote the Healthy Development of the Intellectual Property Service Industry, which further focused on the key points, intensified efforts, and innovated mechanisms. Lei Xiaoyun, director of the State Intellectual Property Office's Division of Application Promotion, said that the next step will be to further strengthen the overall planning, implementation of responsibilities, strengthen implementation, continue to improve the intellectual property agency field governance capacity and governance level, and create a good industry development environment.
